Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

The Santos GLNG team raised over $5000 at the Mt Larcom Show with their annual community BBQ at the 2-day event last weekend.

As proud sponsors of the annual agricultural show, Santos GLNG has supported the Championship Woodchop and Chainsaw event for over 11 years. From a small woodchop demonstration many years ago, the woodchop and chainsaw competition has grown to be a major drawcard with over 10,000 patrons visiting the show annually.

In addition to event sponsorship, volunteers from Santos GLNG Downstream Operations have been running the fundraising BBQ for over a decade selling sausages and burgers to the local community. This year’s effort brings the 11 year fundraising total to over $32,000 with all funds going back to the Show Society to help facility maintenance and event growth.

Santos GLNG has a longstanding partnership with the Mt Larcom Show Society who in 2015 was awarded a community investment grant to build a Woodchop and Chainsaw Pavilion. The facility included a kitchen, bar and dining room area, administration office, toilets and storage space which has been instrumental in attracting national competitions in both woodchop and chainsaw racing.

The Mt Larcom show has been operational since 1919 and continues to be the major show for the Gladstone Region showcasing displays such as poultry, birds, animal nursery, dog show, UTE muster, cattle judging, horse events, antique engines and tractor displays.

Santos GLNG volunteers enjoy supporting the Show each year and the wider Gladstone region community as an opportunity to chat with locals while raising money for a worthy cause.

The 2022 annual agricultural show continues to gain interest from locals across the Central Queensland region and travellers from around Australia.
