Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

Over 90 young people from across remote parts of the Territory descended onto the Mataranka Sport & Recreation grounds, an hour south of Katherine, to kick off the three-day 2022 Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) Katherine Branch Sports Camp. Santos has sponsored the annual ICPA Sports camp – Katherine branch since its inception and is proud to enable events such as this for children who live in remote regions of the Northern Territory.

Participants were divided into sports teams named after local wildlife – Baby Buffs, Cheeky Crocs, Flying Fruit Bats, Deadly Dingoes, Wedgetail Warriors and the King Browns. Without hesitation, young people dove into activities starting off with a half-day Rugby Union clinic, facilitated by NT Rugby and the Katherine Rugby Union club. The Sports camp included seven sports such as Rugby Union, Soccer, Gymnastics, and a blow-up obstacle course – all of which were loved by the children!

Congratulations to the ‘Deadly Dingoes’ who delivered their sports day chant with unmatched passion!

This year, each registered participant received a sports uniform that holds sentimental value and will serve as a treasured memory of when they stepped out of their comfort zone and developed new skills. The friendship, kindness, and sportsmanship shown throughout the 2022 group was exceptional.

Thank you to all the volunteers and parents for making the camp possible and enabling young people to have an unforgettable experience.
