Santos has been contacted by several of its Auto LPG customers who have reported that some loads of Auto LPG (a propane/butane mix) supplied from our Port Bonython plant were contaminated with water. A number of service stations have ceased sales of LPG as a result.
Santos has immediately switched all Auto LPG customers to 100% propane as a precaution, and begun an investigation into the quality of LPG produced at Port Bonython.
That investigation is ongoing. It is too early to comment on the cause of the reported problems.
Santos is working with distributors to minimise the impact on availability of Auto LPG in South Australia.
