Australia’s natural gas company, Santos, is proud to support drought-affected communities in New South Wales, including the Narrabri region where we operate.

Santos will donate a total of $75,000 to help NSW farmers and their communities, with the
funds to be distributed by two organisations:

  • Narrabri Lions Club “Why Leave Town” gift cards
  • Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)

Both of these organisations will receive $37,500.

“As a proudly Australian company that’s worked in partnership with NSW landholders, it’s only right to lend a hand,” Santos Managing Director and CEO Kevin Gallagher said.

“We know regional communities are doing it tough at the moment with the whole state of NSW drought declared,” Mr Gallagher said.

“Helping each other out is what good neighbours do, and that’s why we’re pleased to donate to support NSW farmers and local communities.”

“The ‘Why Leave Town’ program is an initiative that actually started in Narrabri and is now up and running in 20 towns. The gift cards can be redeemed at a number of local businesses, helping both farmers and the small business folk who rely on their trade and are also affected during times of drought,” Mr Gallagher said.

FRRR works by making grants to local not-for-profit groups which deliver activities and services that address the most pressing needs the community identifies, including projects that help the whole community come together to support one another through the drought.

“With farmers in Queensland also doing it tough in this drought, Santos is donating $75,000
to the Queensland Drought Appeal as well as more than $40,000 from the sale of Santos cattle at the Ekka in Brisbane,” Mr Gallagher said.

“Santos has launched a staff appeal and I am pleased to say the company will match employee donations to assist with the drought relief effort.”
