Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

A fire occurred this morning at the Watson Oil Facility, 60 km south of Jackson, in South West Queensland. This is a Naccowlah Block facility.

The incident occurred while work was being undertaken on oil storage tanks by contractors to Santos Ltd, Kadco (Australia) Pty Ltd.

One employee of the contractor has died. Two others were injured and have been flown to Brisbane.

A number of other contractor employees are being treated for shock. No Santos Ltd employees were injured.

The site has been evacuated, secured and contained.

Production from the field has been shut in but the impact on Company production is expected to be minimal.

Santos operates the Watson Facility on behalf of the Naccowlah Block Producers:

  • Oil Company of Australia Ltd. 2.5%
