Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

Santos Limited announces a gas discovery from the John Brookes 1/ST-1 exploration well in permit WA-214-P located in the Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia.

Drill Stem Test No.1 was conducted with the purpose of determining the hydrocarbon water contact as well as determining reservoir flow characteristics. These objectives have been met.

A gas flow of 453,000 cubic metres per day (16 million cubic feet per day) with condensate at 41.3 kilolitres per day (260 barrels) and water at 41.3 kilolitres (260 barrels) per day was recorded from Early Cretaceous Barrow Group Sands.

The flow rate was recorded through a 19mm (3/4) choke during a clean-up flow from the perforated interval 2884m to 2900m at the base of the gas column. Following completion of this test a second test is planned near the top of the previously reported 80m gas column.

John Brookes 1/ST-1 is located 45 km northwest of Barrow Island and 5 km west-southwest of Tryal Rocks.
