Santos Managing Director and CEO, Kevin Gallagher has expressed deep sympathy for all those impacted by the tragic Mulitaka landslide in Enga Province.
“I was deeply saddened to learn that one of our contractors and three of his children were among the victims.
“As we join our colleagues in PNG to mourn their loss, our thoughts go out to their family and friends. We recognise that it will be a long road to recovery and restoration for the population directly impacted by the landslide.
“Santos, as part of our commitment to Papua New Guinea and its people, will donate PGK1M towards the recovery efforts and re-establishment of housing and infrastructure. The funds will be paid to the PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy (CORE) Trust Account managed by the Industry Working Committee led by Barrick Niugini Limited including Santos, TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil PNG and Newmont.
“The Working Committee is coordinating in-kind support to deliver much-needed supplies and rations to the communities directly impacted by the landslide as part of the PNG Government’s response and recovery efforts. We are pleased to be working with the broader business community in PNG to provide assistance to people and communities in need in the Enga Province,” said Mr Gallagher.
