We understand that a healthy community makes a happy community. That’s why we support programs that encourage healthy lifestyles or improve the long term health outcomes of community groups. This includes support for grassroots and elite sports and programs that help those impacted by disease, mental illness or homelessness.
Santos is proud to be the naming rights sponsor of the Santos Tour Down Under, an event that puts Adelaide on the world map. Santos supports the six day UCI World Tour men’s race and a four day UCI women’s race and a range of events and festivals. The 2016 event injected nearly $57 million into the state’s economy, saw crowds of 840,000 people, and provided the equivalent of 683 full time jobs.
Santos invested $3 million over a three year period to help Oz Harvest establish a presence in Western Australia. A national food rescue group, Oz Harvest collects surplus food from various providers and delivers that food free of charge to charities. This helps the needy and reduces waste and emissions.
Santos has long been a supporter of the Asthma Foundation SA, the State leader in asthma health care and research delivering high quality support to people with asthma and their carers. The Asthma Foundation delivers evidence-based preventative health strategies and support, training and resources to the primary health care sector. The Foundation funds basic science and population health research contributing to national and international understandings of asthma and how best to manage the disease.
Support for local health services has been a key part of Santos’ community investments in regional Queensland. The Santos-operated GLNG project has contributed $1.5 million to the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service in Gladstone to refurbish the high dependency unit and fund midwifery scholarships. In Roma, Santos has contributed $1 million towards a new specialist healthcare facility established to prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes through treatment and lifestyle programs.
