Santos today announced the appointment of Mr Greg Martin to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Mr Martin, 50, has nearly 30 years experience in the utilities, energy and energy related infrastructure sectors in Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

Mr Martin held the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Australian Gas Light Company for five years from 2001. In 2006, Mr Martin joined Challenger Financial Services Group as Chief Executive, Infrastructure, principally engaged in the management of predominantly European and North and South American infrastructure investments.

Mr Martin is a previous Deputy Chairman of the Australian Gas Association and served as inaugural Chairman of the Energy Supply Association of Australia between 2004 and 2006. He is a past member of the Business Council of Australia and Committee for the Economic Development of Australia.

He serves as a Non-Executive Director of Energy Developments Limited and the Australian Energy Market Operator Limited, and is Chairman of a number of boards including the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust of New South Wales.

Santos Chairman, Stephen Gerlach said he was delighted that Mr Martin has joined the Santos Board of Directors.

“It is very pleasing to appoint a new director with such notable energy sector experience. I am confident Mr Martin’s solid background in the energy and infrastructure marketplace will enable him to make a significant contribution to Santos,” Mr Gerlach said.
