Santos has been awarded two prestigious international industry honours at the Asia Pacific Energy Awards hosted by the Energy Council in Singapore last night.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gallagher was awarded APAC Executive of the Year, and Santos’ acquisition of Quadrant Energy in November 2018 was recognised as APAC Deal of the Year. Santos was also a shortlisted finalist in a third award category, APAC Company of the Year (Upstream).
Santos Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gallagher said, “I was delighted to accept the Deal of the Year Award for Santos, which was determined through consideration of deal value, industry-changing implications, and post-deal performance and integration.”
“The acquisition of Quadrant Energy was value accretive for Santos shareholders and supports our strategy to build and grow our core natural gas assets around existing infrastructure. This award recognises the fantastic efforts of the Santos team to put this very strategic deal together and make it a reality, diversifying our revenue base and solidifying our ability to fund growth activities throughout the oil price cycle,” he said.
Mr Gallagher was also personally honoured with the APAC Executive of the Year Award, which was judged on criteria including company performance, market reputation as a leader, and deal or operational success.
In accepting his Award, Mr Gallagher attributed the honour to the efforts of all Santos people and said, “It’s recognition of the work that our management team and the employees across our organisation have put in over the last couple of years to turn Santos around.”
“Since 2016, Santos has been on a journey to transform, build and grow the business through implementation of our disciplined, low cost operating model. In the fourth quarter of 2018 we set new records for quarterly and annual sales revenues, and the integration of Quadrant Energy will provide a significant boost to our production this year. It’s a great credit to our management team and all our people,” Mr Gallagher said.
“Now Australia’s lowest cost onshore operator, we are aiming to replicate that offshore and the capability Quadrant brings will help us achieve that. Santos is positioned for growth across each of our five core natural gas assets, we have a world class oil discovery in Dorado in Western Australia, and we are targeting production of more than 100 mmboe by 2025, almost double 2018 production.”
