MACADAMA 3

Santos Ltd, as Operator for the South West Queensland Unit, announces a gas flow from Macadama 3, a gas exploration well in ATP 259P, Queensland. A gas flow of 56,650 cubic metres per day (2.0 million cubic feet per day) was recorded on an open hole drillstem test.

The DST was conducted over the interval 2702m to 2721m in the Permian Epsilon Formation. The flow was recorded through a 13mm (1/2) surface choke.

Macadama 3 is located 200m south of Macadama – 1 and some 40km west north west of the Ballera Gas Centre. The well is currently drilling ahead to evaluate deeper objectives.

Commenting, Rod McArdle, General Manager – Queensland & Northern Territory said:

“Macadama 3 is the third well to be drilled to assess the size and deliverability of the Macadama structure. Macadama 1 flowed gas at 13,660 cubic metres per day from the Epsilon Formation while the deeper Patchawarra section could not be evaluated due to poor hole conditions. Likewise Macadama 2 could not be fully evaluated due to hole conditions, which precluded a successful test in the well.”
