Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

Santos Limited advises that overnight a leak was discovered in the Moonie to Brisbane pipeline, which resulted in an oil spill, 500 metres from the Lytton Terminal, located 15 kms east of Brisbane.

The spill, into a paddock, is approximately 7,000 barrels and is estimated to cover approximately two hectares. The area has been evacuated by the Metropolitan Fire Service.

The pipeline was immediately shut-in. The spillage has been contained and booms have been placed in the local storm-water drain to protect waterways.

Santos personnel are actively working to stop the leak, clean-up the oil and to repair the pipeline. Clean-up operations have commenced and will be undertaken as quickly as possible.

Fire and emergency services are on site as well as Santos environmental officers, oil spill specialists and other relevant personnel.

Santos has informed the relevant government authorities and is in constant liaison with departmental officers.

There are no injuries.
