Exploration Well in Central North Sea

Santos Ltd advises that the UK Block 22/22c-3 well, 128 miles east of Aberdeen, has been suspended pending further evaluation following oil shows.

The original wellbore, 22/22c-3, was drilled by the semi-submersible drilling rig Sedco Explorer in 307 feet of water to a total depth of 9,235 feet. The well encountered shows of hydrocarbons in Tertiary aged, Tay Formation sandstones.

Well 22/22c-3z was then drilled as a geological sidetrack to the west-northwest to a total measured depth of 9,939 feet. The well encountered an oil zone in the Tay sandstone objective. The well was not tested and has been temporarily suspended, pending future evaluation.
