Barossa Gas Project: Learn more

Santos is proud to partner with the Clontarf Foundation, which seeks to support male Indigenous students to remain engaged in school, complete Year 12 and transition into employment or further study. The partnership is focused on supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys enrolled in Clontarf academies and driving real social improvement for young Indigenous people.

In 2023, Santos expanded its partnership with Clontarf to support activities in South Australia and northern New South Wales, in addition to their work in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

In South Australia, Santos supported the opening of a new academy in Christies Beach. Excitingly, in its first year, the academy already supports 52 young men.

With Santos’ partnership, the Narrabri Academy in New South Wales achieved a significant milestone in 2023, with the enrolment of more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students – its largest ever enrolment. This marks a substantial increase from its inaugural enrolment of 44 boys in 2019, demonstrating the impact of Santos’ contribution in helping the academy grow.

Academy activities

During the school year, Clontarf staff run a holistic program of activities including regular morning training sessions, games, and carnivals with other Clontarf academies, incentive camps, and leadership and personal development sessions. Clontarf also organise health checks and awareness lessons, as well as employment visits and forums to help prepare the young men for their future.

Santos teams across Australia actively engage with their local Clontarf Academies across a wide range of initiatives. Our people have been pleased to visit academies and join their morning teas and lunches, go to end of year awards ceremonies, provide tours of Santos’ operational sites and work experience opportunities, engage through employment forums, facilitate participation in events run by other Santos community partners, and attend major Foundation events.

Since 2000, Clontarf has assisted more than 7,000 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men around Australia to complete Year 12 and find employment. We are proud to work with the Clontarf Foundation, improving education and employment prospects and creating positive social and cultural outcomes for Indigenous communities.

Santos congratulates all of the Year 12 students who have completed school while enrolled in Clontarf Academies this year!
