Santos is proud to be a long-standing supporter of the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Since the partnership’s inception in 2009, Santos has worked collaboratively with the AGSA organisation to promote the gallery’s fantastic exhibitions.
Following Santos' original commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art with the naming of the Santos Atrium in 1998, Santos’ sponsorship with the Art Gallery of South Australia was first extended in 2009 and again in 2013.
In its second term, in a renewed 5 year agreement, the partnership enabled a national touring exhibition titled The Desert Country (exhibiting 40 years of the desert painting movement), the Gallery’s acquisition of a major bark painting by John Mawurndjul, and a commitment to display over 1,000 indigenous works in the online gallery. The support also included three new Art Gallery publications and further career development of the Gallery's Indigenous curator.
This activity won the 2012 National Australian Business Arts Foundation Partnering Award through Creative Partnerships Australia.
The third tenure of our partnered activity includes the inauguration of First Fridays.
We’re firing up Friday night at the Art Gallery by staying open after hours on the first Friday of every month from November. Hear great talks, unwind to live music and take in the latest exhibitions and displays.
Think of the Gallery as a launch pad for your weekend; have a bite to eat, something to drink and immerse yourself in art and culture with an amazing mix of eclectic characters – then lose yourself in the city as you head off to other gigs, shows and events.
When: The first Friday of every month, 5–9pm.
