The inaugural Santos Oil and Gas Industry Charity Quiz raised $26,000 for Homeless Connect, a one-stop-shop for homeless people in Perth.
More than 230 people from the industry, both operators and service providers, participated in the recent event, with a Santos team trumping 28 other tables to take out the honours.
It was tight at the top for most the night until an air guitar competition separated the contenders. Santos WA&NT Development Geologist, Ngaire Long, delighting the audience with work not seen since the days of Jimi Hendrix.
The quiz night auction was also a big hit, with items coming from the West Coast Eagles, the Western Force, Fremantle Dockers and a lunch at Parliament House with WA Mines & Petroleum Minister Norman Moore MLC that netted $1,020.
Homeless Connect is a once-a-year event where homeless people come together for a free meal, new clothes and shoes, medical and dental check-ups, a hair-cut and photographs to send to their loved ones. Santos staff in the Perth office will be on hand to help at this year’s event on 16 November.
