Otway Basin

The Otway Basin is located in the south-west corner of Victoria and the south-east corner of South Australia.  Santos holds interests in one exploration permit, one retention license and two production licenses.

Santos has a 10% interest in the VIC/L22 permit which contains the Minerva gasfield that commenced production at the end of 2004 and VIC/RL7 containing the undeveloped La Bella gas field.

Santos also has a 50% operated interest in the VIC/L24 permit containing the Casino gas field, which came on-stream in early 2006. The surrounding VIC/P44 permit contains the Martha gas discovery and the Henry gas discovery that is likely to be tied back to the Casino field 8.5 kilometres to the south. Two wells, Callister-1 (2004) and Hill-1 (2003) were drilled to test prospectivity of the offshore VIC/P51 permit. Amrit-1 was drilled in 2004 in the recently relinquished VIC/P52 permit.
