The RiAus has opened the doors to its newly refurbished headquarters in Adelaide, with with backing from Santos
The only international affiliate organisation of the renowned Royal Institution of Great Britain (RI), the RiAus is housed in the historic Old Adelaide Stock Exchange building, now called The Science Exchange.
Santos’ support for the Ri here in Australia is fundamentally linked to our business. As an energy company, science is at the heart of everything Santos does. Our industry depends on it and so does the wider community. We are compelled to encourage the pursuit of science and have contributed $5 million to the establishment of the RiAus as a Foundation Partner of this celebrated institution.
The Ri will increase the level of scientific debate and literacy amongst the wider community, a timely development given the global challenges we all face.
In 2008, Santos hosted an event on behalf of the RiAus, which featured
a live video link with the Queen and Sir David Attenborough at the
re-launch of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. During the event,
Australian scientists revealed their discovery of the world’s oldest
vertebrate mother in a newly-found species of fossil fish. The species
was named after Sir David.
