As major sponsor, we’re privileged to have had the University of Adelaide Motorsport Formula SAE car on display in the Santos Centre foyer earlier this month.
Santos has been a supporter of the University’s Formula SAE team for the past 5 years. The team participates in a University- based competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Each year teams from around the world design, build and race a vehicle in accordance with SAE rules.
While an initiative of the School of Mechanical Engineering, the team also draws upon the skills of a diverse cross-section of male and female students from the disciplines of Electrical Engineering, Marketing and Finance as well as Mechanical Engineering. The team now includes up to 30 students drawn from all year levels.
Two Mechanical Engineering Honours projects are currently being conducted by senior team members, which allows the team to draw upon their knowledge and experience.
Over the years, Santos’ sponsorship has supported the team’s efforts in the vital areas of engineering innovation, testing and the all-important area of safety.
The sponsorship supports Santos’ graduate recruitment strategy by building relationships with potential employees and underscores our commitment to working with the community to develop the next generation of professionals with the energy to make things happen.
