Our Responsibilities

Perth employees connect with the homeless

Volunteers at the Homeless Connect project.

Santos volunteers in the Perth office have turned out in full force to support the annual Homeless Connect project, an initiative offering Perth's homeless a range of goods and services from food and clothing to dental and medical checks.

The Lord Mayor of Perth, Lisa Scaffidi, opened the “one stop shop”, at Russell Square and Hellenic Community Centre, praising Santos for its fund raising efforts at and thanking the volunteers for the willingness to give their time, help and skills to the homeless.

The day included a Santos Beauty Centre where 'guests' could go for a haircut, foot massage or a little reiki (a Japanese relaxation technique), provided by Santos reiki gurus Michelle Morrison and Laura Johnson.

Natalie Wallace and Erin Sutton helped those guests wanting to turn their hand to arts and craft work, Bronwyn See assisted with legal services, while Courtney Barker assisted in the food tent, and Claudia Carmignani and her team helped pack up.

Homeless Connect is the chosen staff charity for Santos’ Perth office, with staff already eager to plan next year’s quiz night, which will help raise money for future events. This year the Santos Oil and Gas Industry Charity Quiz raised $26,000 for Homeless Connect.

Santos once again thanks the Perth staff for their outstanding efforts and community support. Homeless Connect is an important partner in Santos’ efforts to establish and maintain and mutually-beneficial relationships with the community.
