Santos Tour Down Under.
The 2011 Santos Tour Down Under took out the most prestigious award at last night’s Australian Event Awards in Sydney, being named the 2011 Australian Event of the Year.
The Tour also received the Best Tourism Event award for a third consecutive year – further recognition of South Australia’s unique world-class cycling festival. The Santos Tour Down Under was recognised ahead of outstanding finalists, Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure and the 2011 Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Best Tourism Event category.
The quality and alignment of Santos’ partnership with the OzAsia Festival was also acknowledged at the awards, winning Best Achievement in Marketing, Communications and Sponsorship. This follows Santos and OzAsia winning the Australian Business Arts Foundation’s (AbaF) SA Partnering Award recently, and being in the running for the national award.
Other recent accolades for Santos’ community partnerships and engagement include the Surat Basin Community Engagement Award; the AbaF WA partnering commendation for our partnership with Shakespeare WA; and the Come Out Festival and ‘CACSA Contemporary: The New New’ exhibition winning the SA Premier’s Ruby Awards.
