GLNG helping local students

23 Aug 2010

Santos’ GLNG office in Gladstone is helping local students build their experience in the workplace as part of a program that seeks to make the transition from school to work easier.

The program is run by EQIP (Education Queensland and Industry Partnership) Gladstone and involves students complementing their studies with hands-on work experience with local businesses.

A group of year 11 students from EQIP spent time in the GLNG office working alongside staff, preparing promotional material and gaining an insight into the project’s development and local involvement.

GLNG senior community relations adviser Helen Simpson said, “providing real work experience for the students is one of the ways GLNG goes about boosting the skills and capabilities of young people in the region.”

The GLNG project is being developed by Santos and its partner PETRONAS, and involves producing coal seam gas in eastern Queensland, piping it to Gladstone and converting it to LNG for export.

  1. What a wonderful experience for these beautiful young ladies. I hope they all learn so much for their future in the workforce.
